Reminders:Students will have March 15 – 19, 2010 for Spring Break and the 20th and 21st of April for Easter Break. The 16th at 11:30 a.m. is our Grandparent's luncheon. Parents, you are welcome to attend.
Parents: I welcome you to my classroom anytime, and if any of you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, here are several ways that you could help our class:
Parent Helpers: Parent Helpers can come into the classroom during the day according to availability, and can help the class with different projects and tasks. Parent Helpers could help students one-on-one for tutoring, or can read to the class.
Field Trip Chaperones: Chaperones could come on field trips with the class and assist as another adult figure during the trip. They are usually during the entire school day, or even half day field trips. I will give 4-5 weeks notice regarding the field trips, and on the field trip permission slip is an area where you can express interest in volunteering your time.
Other Opportunities: There are many ways that parents can volunteer in the classroom all throughout the year. This can deal with decorations for special events, or for special projects that involve smaller groups who will need an adult for assistance. I will notify you of these opportunities well in advance, and you can contact me if you are interested. I understand that everyone has schedules that are very important, and filled with many responsibilities and activities. It is not necessary for you to come into the classroom to show your support for your student. Just by helping your child with their homework if they need assistance or making sure that they are doing their homework is very important. You can ask your child about their day and what they did in school; children love to have people interested in their lives, and you are the most important adult in their lives! We will be having a Parent/ Teacher meeting every month on the 3rd Tuesday; if you are not able to make this date but have concerns, just contact me and it will be brought up at the meeting, and everyone will get a copy of the meeting minutes. Thank you for everything that you all do! You are a very important part of your child's education, and I know that by working with you and your student, their opportunities for success will sky rocket!
